Moving Towards a Stronger HR Structure

As a non-profit our people are the biggest asset. We constantly train them, motivate them and work with them to improve their skills. We are also lucky to have a very committed group of individuals who identify themselves with the goal of eradicating hunger.

However, like every organisation our systems and processes need optimizations. One of them being the HR structure. When we started working in 2016 on overhauling our organisation structures we hired credible professionals like Praneet who manages our Mid-day meal program and Kusum who manages our vocational training programs at Govandi. Their work has been highly appreciated by the team.

However we understood that all our employees report to our Managing Trustee Mr Paramjeet and a proper evaluation plan and structure was lacking. So we have currently starting working with our HR Consultant and here are some of the factors that we are working on :

  1. Understanding what is performance management :
  2. Understanding goal setting:
  3. Why Goal Setting is necessary :
  4. How we plan to have regular check-ins on our goals :
  5. Introduction of mid-term review :

The idea is to have more tangible and achievable goals for every team-member and periodic reviews to understand the progress. This is help us close gaps in performance and will help the team members to achieve career growth.
