60 bright ITM students intern with DBM

This November, 60 students from ITM college of management did their 2 week NGO internship with us. The internship started with the induction and introduction on 17th November.

The students were divided into 3 groups. 30 students were sent to be teachers as part of our “Chalo English Sikhayien Project”. 6 students took part in the “Mid Day Meal” and “Health Program” to conduct health and sanitation sessions. 18 students were assigned to our Vocational training centres as Marketing Associates while 2 were made be overall project heads to learn team management and leadership skills.
The interns did an excellent job over the 2 weeks. They sent updates on a daily basis to their In-charges and were always punctual and cordial.
On 1st December, everyone gathered to celebrate the end of the internship and share their experiences.

Every Intern had a unique experience to share and amongst them, few are as follows :
An intern, Chintan, who was a teacher in the CES program, shared his personal background revealing that he studied in a government school for low-income families and it was a proud moment for him to go back to students like him and teach them.
Another intern, Dipti, who was a marketing associate at our vocational training centre revealed that: coming from a low income, minority community she faced challenges while trying to reach out to girls & convincing them to talk and how she and her team broke the barrier with the locals in these communities over the 2 weeks.

The end of the internship event was marked by the presence of Chief Guest- CA Sukhbir Singh Sahni, who in his keynote address shared about his career challenge and personal experience with us. He also explained how in life, all the work you do and things you pursue connect; leading to new things and new career tracks.
