Success Stories of DBM India Students – Women Empowerment !

Muskan Sayyed – ordinary to extraordinary !

Muskan’s story is a story of an ordinary eighteen-year-old girl who achieved success with her determination & hard work. Born in an underprivileged family in cheeta camp,Mumbai, Muskan’s father worked as a daily-wager mistry/carpenter, earning a measly four thousand rupees a month. Her mother is a homemaker with three little children to take care of. Each day brought a new challenge for the impoverished family.

Despite all the adversities, Muskan managed to complete her 12th Grade but she was not able to continue her studies further. So she started looking for a way to help her family by earning some money herself.

This proved to be the turning point for Muskan because luckily she heard about DBM India and got to know about the courses offered by DBM, through the Social worker who guided her about the DBM India’s skills-based training. Having realised that this could be a tremendous opportunity for her to acquire the right skills to get the right job, Muskan wasted no time and immediately applied for the MSCIT course.

At DBM India, Muskan was taught all about computers. The teachers spotted her desire to do something at this young age and so the training went beyond regular classroom teaching. They helped her to improve her communication skills and to develop confidence while interacting with others. Soon Muskan managed to secure a job as a teacher at Nanhi Pari Foundation at a salary of Rs 4000 per month & also helped the school in computer related work.

Farhana Patel – Journey from a housewife to an Urban Clap employee!

Some students have a drive from inside to learn new things and explore new ideas, while others look to successful people around them and get self-motivated to learn hard.

Farhana Patel, who managed to do her schooling till 10th Grade, got married to a contractor at a very young age with 3 children to look after. But Farhana had dreams in her eyes, dreams which had to come true.

She wanted to be an independent woman, but due to household chores she was not able to cope with her dreams. One fine day she heard about DBM India’s various vocational courses, from her sister & she thought of enhancing her skills as a beautician. Without wasting a minute, she took admission in the Beautician course at DBM.

She says DBM has given her wings to fly and she is extremely grateful to the cooperative & helpful teachers, who like in the case of Kalpana, saw the strong desire in her to succeed and therefore motivated her to join Urban Clap. Job at Urban Clap is demanding and has no fixed timings and one has to travel all over the city to fulfil client needs. Very few women coming from the underprivileged background like that of Farhana, dare to take up this job while adjusting their household duties too. She now is earning 40k to 50k per month.

She is thankful to DBM & the staff for encouraging her & showing her the right path to success & for making her dream come true. She is very happy because she can do work as well as look after her children & at the same time help her family with financial support.

She further says “Mera sapna job karna tha, aapne pairo pe khade hona meri khwahish thi, jo DBM ke jariye se poori ho payee hai”.

Kalpana Sakhare – Journey from a housewife to an Urban Clap employee!

Many students need immense motivation and inspiration from teachers and parents to work hard. This includes real-life examples of successful persons. Here, we can have a look at a motivational story of our DBM Student of Beautician which has inspired many students to work hard and lay a foundation for a successful life.

This is the story of Kalpana Sakhre, a girl whose ambition was to become a successful woman, but due to financial challenges in her life, she couldn’t achieve her goal. She managed to complete her 12th grade and got married to a railway government employee.

Challenges after marriage became worse. She had to look after her mother-in-law, mentally ill brother-in-law & two daughters. Due to medical treatment of her brother-in-law & monthly expenses, her husband was dragged into debt. The financial crisis forced Kalpana to think of helping her family by earning some income.

She then heard about DBM India from her sister who advised her to take admission in any skill course at DBM so that she can earn for her family. She took admission in a beautician course & as she became more friendly with the teacher, she told about her financial condition to the teacher. The beautician teacher motivated her to join Urban Clap although Kalpana found the timings there to be not suitable to her family commitments. But due to strong motivation from her teacher, she joined and now she is earning more than 40 to 50k & supporting her family.. She even helped her husband to clear all the debts. Kalpana is very thankful to DBM & the teachers of DBM. She says DBM not only helped her to improve her skills but also helped her in getting a job and helping her family.

We at DBM are proud of her and salute her courage and determination to succeed. We gave her the wongs and it is he who dared to fly high.
